Ford Probe Engine
The Ford Probe has always been a performance car. Being a sports coupe, it has
always been the sporty alternative for people who would rather buy a sedan or
a sport-utility vehicle. It would always give you the speed and performance you
expect a sports car to have.

For optimum performance, Ford Probes are equipped with quality and powerful engines.
When it was introduced in 1989, the only engine it uses is the 2.2 liter 4-cylinder
engine. This engine would provide the coupe with 110 hp of power while the turbocharged
version used for the GT provides 145 hp of power. The basic engine would provide
the car with acceptable speed that can overtake almost any sedan while the turbocharged
version would provide more power while maintaining good fuel economy.
When the Probe was redesigned for 1993, it was given a new set of engines. The
base model is equipped with a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 115 hp
of power. This engine was upgraded to produce 118 hp of power come 1993. The turbocharged
version of the 2.2 liter engine previously used for the GT was dropped in favor
of a larger V6 engine. The V6 provided more power at 164 hp. It also made every
GT ride smoother and the acceleration quicker.
