1990 Ford Probe
After a year since its introduction, Ford decided to give the Probe a few enhancements
and a couple of new standard and optional features. Most of these enhancements
were made to the LX trim while the new bunch of features came mostly as options.
These, though, are welcome improvements and makes people expect that these features
will eventually become standard in future year models.

The basic and turbocharged versions of the 2.2 liter 4-cylinder engine were still
used by the GL and GT trims, respectively, while the middle trim LX gets an upgrade.
The LX is now equipped with a 3.0 liter V6 engine that gives it 140 hp of power
and 160 lb-ft of torque. This new engine has a fuel economy rating of 19/26 mpg
(city/highway), lower than the ratings of the two other engines. The 5-speed manual
transmission remains the standard while the 4-speed automatic becomes optional
for all trim levels.
New features were also introduced for 1990 to enhance the comfort and convenience
quality of the Ford Probe. New features include cruise control, leather seats
and moonroof/sunroof. However, these new features are optional and mostly not
available for the base trim. Equipping your car with these features, however,
would increase its interior comforts. Standard features still include the tachometer
and tilt steering while the previous optional features are still available.
The 1990 Ford Probe now also comes with safety features, although like the other
new features, all are optional. This option includes power windows and door locks,
as well as ABS brakes.
