1989 Ford Probe GT

The GT is the premium trim of the Ford Probe sports coupe introduced by Ford
in 1989. It was introduced in 1989 along with two other trim levels which are
less costly yet less powerful. Being the premium, the 1989 Ford Probe GT proves
to be more powerful and more equipped than the other two trim levels.
Like the other two trim levels, the GT is also equipped with a 2.2 liter 4-cylinder
inline type engine. The only difference is that the engine for the GT is the turbocharged
version, providing more power while fuel economy remains average. The turbocharged
engine produces 145 hp and 190 lb-ft torque, 35 hp and 30 lb-ft higher than the
other two models. The GT has a 5-speed manual gearbox as its standard transmission.
In features, both interior and exterior, the 1989 Ford Probe GT comes just a
little bit more equipped than the GL and LX trims, and all these additional features
come as optional features. Standard features for the GT include tilt steering
and tachometer while the list of optional features include air conditioning, cassette
player, cruise control, power windows and power door locks. Most of these standard
and optional features are also available for the LX trim but not for the GL.
